International Trumpet Guild Conference Review, May 2001
In May 2001, The Chicago Brass Choir was honored to be invited to perform as a featured artist ensemble at the International Trumpet Guild Annual Conference. Dennis Najoom, Principal Trumpet of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, joined the CBC in this well-received performance and premiered a trumpet solo commissioned especially for the group to commemorate this important engagement.
A complete review of this performance can be found on the International Trumpet Guild web site.

Repertoire
Chicago Brass Choir Repertoire
The Chicago Brass Choir maintains an extensive repertoire of music covering many styles and time periods. The nature of a large brass ensemble and the instruments which comprise it provides a multifaceted tapestry of sonorities suitable for music from as long ago as the Renaissance to the contemporary sounds of modern 20th- and 21st-Century music. A typical Chicago Brass Choir concert consists of selections spanning this wide range, and the ensemble prides itself on the variety of its musical offerings. Often a touch of jazz is included in the program, just enough to spice up the solid core of classical and romantic music that is the heart of the CBC's repertoire.
Not just a large brass ensemble...
The Chicago Brass Choir also makes extensive use of smaller groupings of brass instruments which can be gleaned from its ranks. The horn section has been known to play an interlude showcasing the unique sounds of their instrument. A trumpet trio may herald the beginning of the second half of a CBC concert performance. The trombone section has even called upon the talents of our own James Gilbertsen of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to join in a trombone-only jam session. Everything from these small groupings to the traditional brass quintet to a larger octet or nonet are all pieces of the Chicago Brass Choir's musical jigsaw puzzle.
Seeking new music!
The Chicago
Brass Choir makes a special effort to perform works by new
composers. The ensemble always welcomes the chance to play
a brand new piece by a composer or arranger who shares their
love for the sound of fine brass music. Original compositions
or transcriptions of existing material are represented in
the CBC's library. If you are a composer or arranger interested
